Nexnix use ScreenGoo to create a cool room at the NEC Showcase London

Nexnix creatively used Goosystems Screen Goo at the recent NEC Showcase 2013 which was held at the Tobacco Docks in London. In its fifth year the NEC Showcase has brown larger every year with this years show playing host to more than 1000 visitors!

NEC Showcase 2013

NEC had asked Nexnix to create a funky "Cool Room" in the retail zone of the show, So we decided on doing a projection based touchscreen DJ Deck stage solution as well as DMX lighting and smoke control. The DJ Table uses an NEC projector to project an image onto the touch foil/ transparent acrylic table from beneath allowing a DJ to control the software in a futuristic fashion, Carrying on with the DJ set theme in the room there were three NEC projectors which were projecting images and videos from an Edirol media server onto a stack of cardboard boxes painted in Goosystems High Contrast ScreenGoo either side of the DJ as well as a suspended piece of clear acrylic that had been sprayed Goosystems Rear projection coating. All together this made for a very low cost but effective set!

Nexnix Supply Video Panels for Kinect-powered interactive art installation in Schipol airport

One of our customers AllOfUs and marketing agency Work Club have created a Kinect-powered inactive art installation for whisky brand Ballantines's that's in action in Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport.

The concept behind it is that airports strip passengers of their identity, their creativity, and processes them like a number – and the installation allows them to 'leave an impression'.

The whole experience is powered by Microsoft Kinect. Ambient visuals draw in passers by on large screens contained in 2.5m high pods. The installation then ‘reads’ the user’s entire body, including the clothing colour, motion, gesture and proximity to create an algorithmically generated reflection.

The user is then able to manipulate this version of themselves by moving. The user’s ‘Impression’ is captured and uploaded to a web gallery where they can share socially on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.

Ballantine’s LAI incorporates three NEC 46-inch screens and bespoke photographic imaging software, using infrared and digital cameras. The software that generates the ‘Impressions’ was developed using the openFrameworks toolkit.
